PROPERTY TAX TIME... ugh!!!
Hey, it's not as bad as Income Tax time...
Not much of a consulation though...
Here's how it works:
You will get your assessed value on a card in the mail in the first week of December.
If you disagree with the valuation you must do 3 things between December 15th and January 15th.
1. Fill out the appeal form. It's not difficult.
2. Have comparable sales records to use as justification for your appeal (this is where we come in). There is a space on the form for this purpose.
GET COMPARABLE SALES BY FILLING OUT THE FORM TO THE RIGHT...
They will be emailed to you.
It will help in your decision making process to have the comparable sales when the assessed value card arrives.
DO NOT wait until thousands are trying to get the same information.
3. Submit the form to the assessors office before January 15th.
An appraiser from the assessors office will call you. You will discuss your difference of opinion. If the appraiser agrees with you... you win... If the appraiser disagrees you can make a formal appeal.
